Job Description

Assists Discipline Engineers, Project Engineers and Project Managers with all aspects of project engineering from performing engineering calculations, code reviews, and CAD drawing development. May perform fieldwork and site visits as necessary to collect data/information to assist with project development and designs. 

 

Open to current students enrolled in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Architectural degree programs. 

 

*This position is located at Kuna headquarters in Anchorage, AK*

Responsibilities

  • Support Kuna’s engineers or architects in research and analysis of data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. 
  • Assist with major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications. 
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit) and equipment to develop project drawings. 
  • Applies design standards and procedures to implement basic design.  
  • Ensure that assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes and regulations. 
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets and change orders. 
  • Update estimates, schedules, reports, drawings and documents based on revisions and changes to the project. 
  • Assist with preparation of project reports including obtaining historical data and information. 
  • Conduct quality checks of databases, documents and reports, to verify accuracy of data, information, and calculations.  
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.  
  • Assist in preparing, maintaining and filing of departmental policies, procedures, and manuals. 
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and company information. 

Qualifications

  • College sophomore level or higher with degree declared in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Project Management. 
  • Intermediate skillset with MS Word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software. Some exposure to computer aided drafting and engineering software preferred. 

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employee may travel to remote areas and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
