Job Description

This is an entry level position where the candidate will apply their electrical engineering skills to a variety of diverse and challenging projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate shall have a desire to work in the electrical engineering design consulting business, focusing on commercial and industrial designs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives and involving conventional types of plans and specifications.
  • Review work for the application of sound professional judgment.
  • Performs design calculations and prepares equipment or material specifications.
  • Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents.
  • Prepare graphical representations of designs.
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel.
  • Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Engineer in Training certification required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Revit preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel required.
  • Experience preparing graphical representations of designs.
  • Experience in lighting, power, signal, communication, controls and fire detection systems preferred.
  • Experience with all phases of project management and production preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical and design codes preferred.
  • Experience in commercial, state and federal facility design is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Frequent indoors but will be times when work is required outdoors.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Description of environment: Frequently inside in standard office setting. Also, occasionally required to be outside at construction/project sites.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employee will travel based on project needs and travel could be to remote areas for performance of tasks at that location. Employee may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
